HOW TO LEARN ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILLS EFFECTIVELY
As we know, learning English is not actually an easy task if you do not know the ways. For me itself,
learning English has always been a mountain to climb. In my household itself, our mother tongue is given
the priority.
Actually, I have faced many challenges because my spoken English wasn’t fluent enough. I would be a
nervous wreck when I have to present in English in front of the class. Other than that, I also had some
difficulties in writing something in English. My grammar was not perfect in the first place and I find it
difficult to find the right vocabulary to use. I would blame it on my lack of reading. Other than me, the rest
of my friends are also facing the same problem in learning English.
Indeed, we have tried several ways on improving our English. One of it to write or communicate. Try to
find discussion forums from the web about things that you find interesting and fun (music/various artists,
hobbies, etc.) And start communicating there with other people using only English.
Firstly, start using instant messaging systems in case you find some new friends or start emailing them.
Please do not be afraid of making mistakes or hesitating, because even native speakers do make
mistakes and do hesitate at times! The more you enjoy communicating, the better!
Secondly, buy yourself a proper dictionary, and each time when you see a strange word that you do not
understand, look it up. Putting words into their context is one of the best ways to broaden one's
vocabulary and grammar knowledge, the more you read and write the better.
In addition, we can listen to English songs. Although buying music on the internet is becoming more
popular in many countries, not so many people know that you can download speech radio such as audio
books (an actor reading out a novel) and speech radio. Not only is this better practice for your English
than listening to English music, from sources like scientific American, BBC and Australia's ABC radio it is
also free. We can also listen to English music. Even listening to music while doing something else can
help a little for things like getting used to the natural rhythm and tone of English speech, although the
more time and attention you give to a song the more you will learn from listening to it again in the future.
To sum up, if you put your mind to it you can do it. What matters is that, we are willing to go for it.
Learning English has become a must to all of us. Thus, we have put in a lot of effort and followed all the
steps above in improving our language. Now we have realised the importance of English and are in the
process of improving our English to become the best.
