Scientific Research Student Conference of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2023
Implementing the plan for the academic year 2022 - 2023, on May 9, 2023, the School of Medicine and Pharmacy of Duy Tan University held a Student Conference for Scientific Research. This is also one of the activities to strongly develop the scientific research movement and improve the quality of students' research projects.
Speaking at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Dang - Rector of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Head of the Organizing Committee said: “Scientific research in university training is one of the activities to help students effectively apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in the field of science and technology. study in the classroom to solve real-life problems. During the process of carrying out research projects, students will learn how to approach problems through many different methods, learn how to search and select new information and knowledge from books, the internet, experiment with different methods or solutions to solve problems to find the best solution, etc.
In addition, participating in scientific research is also an opportunity for students to practice creative thinking skills, independent and group work, expression skills, problem presentation, and problem solving skills. presentation skills, training students to be confident when defending in front of the scientific council. This is also a very valuable and interesting experience that not all students have in their student life. From there, contributing to further perfecting their preparation before entering the real world of their careers, helping them to gain more confidence and expand their career opportunities in the future.”
With a total of 44 scientific research topics of students of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy registered to report at the Conference, the Organizing Committee was divided into 2 councils: Council of topics of students of Faculty of Medicine,
Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology- Faced with the Faculty of Nursing and the Student Council of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Center for Molecular Biology. The presenters had 10 minutes to present their individual/group research topics to the Panel and 5 minutes to answer critical questions from members of the Jury.
Most of the topics reported at the Conference were highly appreciated by closely following real-life problems, providing possible solutions, and many topics followed new research directions. , showing the creative ability and ability to grasp the problem quite well of the subject implementer. The members of the Jury also highly appreciated the speakers' fluent presentation skills, confident presentation style, and good feedback. This shows a part of the talent, bravery and extensive knowledge of the students not only
for the problem they have been researching but also with other related issues.
Excited to win the first prize at the conference, student Le Thi Thuy Duong - Member of the research team with the topic "Research and manufacture suture models in oral and maxillofacial surgery practice" shared: "Italy" Our idea comes from the practice of studying oral - maxillofacial surgery when practicing on skin pieces and realizing some limitations of the current model. My group has been conducting the project for about 3-4 months. During the research period, the team received great support from the teachers at the Center for Medical Simulation Practice as well as the teachers in the Department of Odonto- Stomatology in analyzing the characteristics of the patient. of models, supporting the location as well as the conditions required to make the skin, connecting with specialists to ask for opinions. In addition, Duy Tan University's Stem & Fab Lab has supported our team to design, print, and cut molds using modern machines such as solidworks software, Dremel 3D45 printer on PLA plastic and machine
Flux Beamo desktop laser cutter;…
This is a product that we are very passionate and dedicated to making. When I heard the title of the topic won the first prize, I personally and the whole group were really happy when the results and efforts of the whole group under the guidance and support of the teachers were recognized. This award encourages us a lot in continuing to promote the spirit of research and creativity to improve the quality of learning and practice of students of Odonto-Stomatology in particular as well as of the Faculty of Science. Health in general.”
