Elements in a Clause: There are seven types of basic clause:
1. SVA: -Nam is in the class.
2. SVC: -Nam is a student.
-Nam is intelligent.
3. SVO: -Nam is writing a letter.
4. SVOA: - Nam is putting a pen on the table.
5. SVOC: -Nam has proved his girlfriend honest
6. SVOO: -Nam gives me a book.
7. SV: -Nam is sleeping.
II. CLAUSES
1. Independent clause:
An independent clause contains a subject and a verb and expresses a complete thought. It can stand alone as a sentence by itself.
2. Dependent clause:
A dependent clause begins with a subordinator (when, while, if…), followed by a subject, verb, and complement. It does not express a complete thought and cannot stand by itself as a sentence.
