Learn to pronounce like a native

Learn to pronounce like a native

Choosing to learn a second language, especially English, we all know it's an essential skill for modern life.
Having English will help you solve: good job opportunities, higher salary for the same position, confidence in life, ability to advance. And in English skills, speaking is one of the most used skills in communication, helping you to express yourself the most.
The first important thing when communicating with foreigners in general that catches their attention is not your tone, grammar, vocabulary or speed of speech, but your pronunciation, when you pronounce it correctly. and yes they will understand you faster and more accurately. The standard pronunciation in each English word is like putting a /,?,\... in each Vietnamese word. In Vietnamese, punctuation determines the meaning of words, in English, too. Vietnamese pronunciation is enough + correct +
punctuation creates a specific meaning. So is English.
If you want to pronounce English well, you should:
1. Choose for yourself an English accent that you like or that you find suitable: English - British, British - American or English - Ucs.
2. Have a standard pronunciation dictionary: for example, Cambridge Learner's Dictionary, Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, dictionaries of famous publishers such as Oxford Dictionary, Cambridge Dictionary, MacMillan Dictionary, etc. (Today all smartphone apps have free dictionaries of these publishers, you can easily download and use them)
3. Identify and pronounce all sounds in English. If you want to speak correctly, you have no choice but to pronounce each sound correctly in English. And so you have to practice perfectly pronouncing all the individual sounds until you are fluent and can put them together into standard words.
4. Learn to speak with stress. English does not have accents like Vietnamese, but native speakers speak English very well and have some stress because English words have stress. Therefore, when we learn words, we must know which syllable the word stress is on, and how we must stress it.
5. Learn to speak with correct intonation. Intonation expresses the feelings or hidden meanings of the speaker. Each language has its own way of expressing intonation. Surprised, upset, sad, angry… all of the above emotional states can be expressed in spoken language through intonation. Therefore, you must know how to use the right intonation to express what you want to say.
6. Check your English pronunciation regularly. This is where the standard English dictionary comes into play. When we encounter a new English word we should not read it according to our reflexes or predictions. It is best to use a dictionary and learn the correct pronunciation from them.
7. Practice listening and identifying. Regular listening practice is the best way to learn English pronunciation. Turn on TV, radio, podcasts, shows, movies, etc. As you listen, focus on how each sound or word is pronounced. Try to guess what that sound is. When you listen to non-native English speakers, you need to hear their pronunciation mistakes.
8. Practice speaking. We should practice speaking slowly, saying each word and then speaking in phrases. Don't rush to say the whole sentence when we don't pronounce well. Remember that slowly but surely.
9. Having someone to practice speaking with and correcting your mistakes is the best.
10. The learning method that helps us to develop the fastest is: listen - copy - read - speak. Give it a try, you'll be surprised how quickly you improve all four language skills!
