HOW TO ACHIEVE IELTS 7.0?

HOW TO ACHIEVE IELTS 7.0?

INTRODUCTION:

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System, roughly translated as International English Language Testing System with 4 skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. You can take the IELTS Academic or IELTS General test depending on the organization you are applying to and your upcoming plans. To achieve 7.0, you should follow some tips below:

CONTENT:

For Listening and Reading skills

Listening: If you want to achieve 7.0 on this test, your number of correct answers must be 30 out of 40 total questions (applies to both Academic and General tests).

Reading: In this skill, the scoring method for the two types of tests: IELTS Reading General Training and IELTS Reading Academic are slightly different as follows:

  • IELTS Reading Academic: You need to get 30 questions correct out of a total of 40 questions to get a band score of 7.0.
  • IELTS Reading General Training: You need to answer 34 out of 40 questions correctly to score 7.0.

Task Achievement: Criteria to evaluate how you answer the question, you need:

  • Complete the requirements of the task
  • The overview sentence needs to clearly present the main trends and differences between stages
  • State your purpose clearly in an appropriate and reasonable tone
  • Present clearly and highlight the main features, small points but should be expanded upon
  • Coherence and Cohesion: Criteria for evaluating how to organize information and article ideas, you need:
  • Organize information and ideas clearly and logically
  • Use linking tools properly (although there is some abuse or underuse)
  • Lexical Resource: Criteria for evaluating vocabulary diversity in articles, you need:
  • Use diverse, flexible and accurate vocabulary
  • Use formal vocabulary, combining appropriate phrases

There may be some errors in vocabulary choice, spelling or word formation. The remaining 3 criteria: Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resources and Grammatical Range and Accuracy, the scoring method is completely similar to the IELTS Writing Task 1 test.

For Speaking skills

The following are the IELTS speaking scoring criteria that candidates need to achieve in their work to score a band score of 7.0:

  • Fluency and Coherence: Can speak continuously and fluently without much difficulty or loss of cohesion or coherence between ideas. There may be some hesitation, some repetition of words, but you can fix it yourself. Use conjunctions and sign words flexibly
  • Pronunciation: Express fluently and pronounce accurately, easily understood

After knowing how to achieve an IELTS score of 7.0, let's start planning and find a way to learn IELTS 7.0 for ourselves. If you don't know anything about IELTS and don't have any background knowledge of English, please refer to the article on learning roadmap for IELTS 7.0 from zero.

a. Determine goals, test capabilities

From there determine the goal you are aiming for. How many months will you study for IELTS 7.0? Go to a learning center or self-study IELTS 7.0? Answer those questions and write them down on notes/hang them up where they can be easily seen while studying. Our ancestors have a saying: "Acting depends on the cause." Only when we have clear goals, high determination and a persistent spirit can we hope to reach the chosen destination. Is IELTS 7.0 difficult? First of all, you need to have a very specific exam preparation schedule.

b. IELTS 7.0 study roadmap

Learn vocabulary, do small exercises (both listening and reading) in the following IELTS 7.0 exam review materials (arranged in increasing difficulty):

  • Cambridge vocabulary for IELTS (Pauline Cullen)
  • Achieve IELTS Grammar and Vocabulary
  • English Vocabulary in Use Advance (Michael McCarthy – Felicity O’Dell)
  • English Collocation in Use (Michael McCarthy – Felicity O’Dell). This book is very difficult but very good. If you have free time, do it. If you finish the last few books, your vocabulary will be at its peak.
  • Speech CNN Student News (video 10mins)

The above channels should be listened to because they have many Introduction & Interview, Individual long turn & Two-way (or more) discussion segments - which are very common in the Listening test.

Reading Book: Reading Strategies for the IELTS test (band 5 - 6.5 IELTS) - by NTV, price 98k, do it in pencil, otherwise it will cost money if you want to do it again.

Take the IELTS test:

  • Do these books in 1 week: IELTS TARGET BAND 7 by Simone Brave (This book is short, useful, a must read) and IELTS SURE SUCCESS from a certain NICON school, (This book is a bit longer, has some more advice for taking the test, you should read it)
  • Refer to tips to strengthen skills through books: (1 day to read, long-term application)
  • Take the famous Cambridge IELTS test set (4 books, 16 questions, 3 weeks)

CONCLUSION:

To study IELTS effectively, learners need to build for themselves a scientific roadmap that is suitable for their abilities and goals. However, not everyone knows how to build an IELTS learning roadmap and how to study for each stage. Therefore, you should determine their goals and build an IELTS self-study roadmap for yourselves.

THANK YOU!
