Duy Tan University - The first university in Vietnam to achieve the UNWTO
TedQual Accreditation for Tourism
Known as the “AACSB for Tourism”, TedQual is often considered the world's most
prestigious accreditation standard for the tourism and hospitality disciplines.
This accreditation standard is organized by the United Nations World Tourism
Organization (UNWTO). Recently, on July 8, 2022, UNWTO has recognized two
training programs: International Hotel Management and International Restaurant
Management of Duy Tan University (University) officially qualified for TedQual
accreditation with scores. quite high is 771/845 points, satisfying up to 91.2% of all
criteria. Accordingly, Duy Tan University has become the first university (up to this
point) of Vietnam to achieve the UNWTO.TedQual accreditation.
To achieve this, Duy Tan University has been diligently building its advanced and high-
quality programs in Tourism and Hospitality since nearly 10 years ago, through a
partnership with Pennsylvania State University (PSU). - 1 in the top 5 tourism schools in
the world. Next, in the process of preparing for the accreditation work in the past 3 years,
Duy Tan University has always received a lot of guidance and direct advice from Hong
Kong Polytechnic University (Hong Kong PolyU) - the university ranked No. 1 in the
world of Tourism and Hospitality on many charts. It is interesting that with the result of
771/845 points, 2 programs of International Hotel and Restaurant Management of Duy
Tan University have been recognized as having been accredited for 3 years. This is more
than the result of Hong Kong Polytechnic University which is 2 years in the first time
when this school achieved UNWTO.TedQual accreditation.
In order to achieve UNWTO.TedQual accreditation, tourism training programs must meet
extremely strict conditions: not only must meet the evaluation criteria from
UNWTO.TedQual but also must ensure the training program. implemented and
integrated the World Tourism Organization's (UNWTO) Global Code of Conduct on
Ethics. The evaluation criteria of UNWTO.TedQual are learner-centered, focusing on
evaluating training programs based on the relationship between 5 groups of subjects
including:
1. Student,
2. Lecturer,
3. Employers,
4. Training program and pedagogical system,
5. Management work.

The above assessment criteria are required to be integrated with the Global Code of
Conduct on Tourism Ethics, and account for nearly half of the score in the assessment of
the quality of the training program.
In addition to the achievements in teaching, research, practice, and business relations, it is
impossible not to mention a key factor for the success of the Tourism and Hospitality
majors at Duy Tan University in recent times. this is the "captain" of the Institute of
Tourism Research and Training (HTi - Hospitality & Tourism Institute) of the school,
Prof. Dr. Lim Sang Taek is from Korea.
